MICHAEL BREWER & TOM SHIPLEY are truly two who work as one. Still as passionate as ever, they continue to blend guitars and voices and perform for audiences 40 years after their trademark vocal harmonies and intertwined acoustic guitars carved a unique niche in America’s soundboard. Their melodic music and underlying lyrical themes of personal freedom and traditional songs of love still resonate with long time fans while continuing to draw new ones.
Brewer & Shipley’s Top 10 hit “One Toke Over The Line” was largely responsible for introducing them to the masses, yet their music careers neither began nor ended with this one song.
Michael Martin Murphy had a family emergency and the concert had to be rescheduled. The Concert date is now November 10, 2016
In the early 1970s, Rolling Stone Magazine called Michael Martin Murphey “one of the best songwriters in America.” Since that time, Murphey has left an indelible mark on the American Music Landscape crafting and recording such iconic hits as “Wildfire,” “Carolina In The Pines”, “Geronimo’s Cadillac”, “Cowboy Logic,” “Cherokee Fiddle”, “Boy From The Country” and more. In the process, he has topped the Pop, Country, Bluegrass and Western Music charts, earned six gold albums and multiple Grammy nominations.
A native Texan, Murphey’s songs have always reflected his lifestyle, and are understandably seen through a Western lens, often built on outdoor themes with the sensibilities of his cowboy lifestyle. From the first notes of the bluegrass-driven “Peaceful Country,” Red River Drifter takes listeners on a journey through the broad spectrum of music Murphey absorbs while traveling from city to city — up to 200 dates a year — from coast to coast.
It was so very nice to meet you last week at the Mike Farris concert. What a show! I am still on an emotional and spiritual high after the wonderful music, food and fellowship served up by Mike and your staff at the Soda Fountain last week. Everyone was tremendously friendly and full of energy! We met many people in Steelville and enjoyed the visit to Wildwood. We had a great time rafting on the Meramec River the day after the show. We had a great shopping spree at the General Store. Every person we met at Steelville was friendly, welcoming and informative. You have a magical place there that you should be very proud of. The scenery was beautiful, the music was off the charts and the atmosphere was second to none. We will be back for one of your shows very soon.
You should take great pride in one of the world’s best kept secrets right there in River City. All the best to you, your staff and your families for a prosperous and healthy spring and summer season.
